2nd Sep 2024All CategoriesAs the flowers bloom and the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to refresh your hair care routine for spring. After months of cold weather and indoor heating, your hair may need some extra TLC to bounce back. At Beauty Line Hairstylists, we’ve got the tips and tricks you need to ensure your hair is healthy, vibrant, and ready to shine this season.
1. Hydrate and Nourish
Winter can leave your hair feeling dry and brittle, so the first step to beautiful spring hair is hydration. Switch to a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner that replenish lost moisture and add shine. Look for ingredients like argan oil, shea butter, and coconut oil to nourish your strands.
Pro Tip: Once a week, indulge in a deep conditioning treatment or hair mask. This will help repair any damage caused by the winter months and leave your hair soft and manageable.
2. Trim Away the Damage
Spring is all about renewal, so why not start with a fresh cut? Trimming away split ends and damaged hair not only gives you a clean slate but also promotes healthy growth. Whether you go for a bold new style or just a subtle trim, your hair will thank you for it.
Pro Tip: Book a regular trim every 6-8 weeks to keep your ends healthy and prevent split ends from traveling up the hair shaft.
3. Protect from UV Rays
As you spend more time outdoors, it’s essential to protect your hair from harmful UV rays. Just like your skin, your hair can be damaged by the sun, leading to dryness, color fading, and breakage. Opt for hair products that contain UV filters or wear a stylish hat to shield your hair from the sun.
Pro Tip: If you color your hair, consider using a color-protecting spray with SPF to maintain vibrancy and prevent fading.
4. Embrace Lightweight Styling
Spring is the season to embrace natural, effortless looks. Swap out heavy styling products for lightweight alternatives that won’t weigh your hair down. Mousse, texturizing sprays, and leave-in conditioners are perfect for creating soft, bouncy styles that move with you.
Pro Tip: Let your hair air-dry whenever possible to minimize heat damage. If you must use heat styling tools, always apply a heat protectant spray first.
5. Tame Frizz with Humidity-Control Products
Spring showers can bring humidity, which often leads to frizz and flyaways. Combat this by incorporating anti-frizz serums or creams into your routine. These products help smooth the hair cuticle and lock in moisture, keeping your hair sleek and polished, even on the dampest days.
Pro Tip: Use a microfiber towel to dry your hair gently after washing. This reduces friction and helps prevent frizz from forming.
6. Go Lighter with Your Color
Spring is the perfect time to experiment with lighter hair colors. Whether you want to add sun-kissed highlights, balayage, or go for a full blonde transformation, lighter shades can instantly brighten your look and complement the season’s vibe. Consult with your stylist at Beauty Line Hairstylists to find the perfect shade for your skin tone.
Pro Tip: Maintain your new color with sulfate-free shampoos and conditioners to keep it looking fresh and vibrant all season long.
7. Stay Hydrated and Eat Right
Healthy hair starts from within. Drinking plenty of water and eating a balanced diet rich in vitamins and minerals can have a significant impact on the health of your hair. Foods high in omega-3 fatty acids, biotin, and vitamins A and E will help keep your hair strong, shiny, and resilient.
Pro Tip: Consider adding a hair supplement to your routine if you’re not getting enough nutrients from your diet alone. Consult with your healthcare provider to find the right option for you. [...]

8th Jul 2021All CategoriesLet’s be honest, we’ve all been there… inconspicuously scratching our head in public, hoping that no one sees us. An itch that we cannot help tame but the good news is that it is possible to treat a dry scalp at home!
One gets a dry scalp when there isn’t enough moisture and oil on your scalp. The oil helps keep your scalp from flaking and causing dandruff. So, what causes a dry scalp anyway? There are a few factors that come to play to cause a dry scalp:
Weather Skin ConditionsOverwashing Products Age
To treat a dry scalp at home, we suggest the below:
Apple Cider Vinegar
To use this, mix a half cup of Apple Cider Vinegar with half a cup of water. Once done, massage it on your scalp and leave it for about 10-15 minutes. Rinse off the mixture and repeat every few days until you see results.
Tea Tree Oil
To use the tea tree oil method, mix 3 drops of tea tree oil with one tablespoon of vegetable or olive oil. When finished, massage on your scalp and rinse off with water once done.
Lemon Juice
Lemons are a great antiseptic and can help treat a dry scalp at home. To try this, massage lemon juice on your scalp and leave it in for 5 minutes. Try this method daily until you see results.
There are great ways to prevent a dry scalp. It would be beneficial for you to try and instill a few habits to help keep your scalp healthy and not dry or itchy. A simple habit such as using the right shampoo for your hair and washing your hair regularly! This also depends on your hair type, for some, it not required to wash your hair everyday as it may cause overwashing.
Alternatively, you would be surprised how much of a difference drinking water every day as well as mainting a good diet can help! Always make sure that you’re eating well and drinking as much water as you can to keep your scalp healthy. It has been suggested to drink at least eight glasses of water a day!

3rd Nov 2020All CategoriesWe know how you may find ourselves thinking that you need to wash your hair every day because you’ve grown up being taught of the practice. However, washing your hair everyday may cause your hair to break or become dry. So, how many times are you supposed to wash your hair?
Let’s first look at why you need to wash your hair.
Giving your hair a wash is good for growth. It prevents any product build-up that you may have. As much as it is not needed that you wash your hair every day, people with curly hair can benefit from washing their hair because of the amount of oil that their hair produces.
It is important to know your hair type because cleansing it too often could lead to the hair becoming dry. You should also take note that if you wait too long to cleanse it, your scalp may become too dirty which means your hair will not be able to grow at the pace it is meant to.
How often should you wash your hair?
For oily hair, aim to wash every day so that you can prevent product build-up, unless you have long, coarse or curly hair.
If you have fine hair, try to shampoo your hair as often as possible. This will help you with the moisturising of your hair which it needs to grow\
Wavy or curly hair, aim to shampoo every four to five days.
Coily hair should be washed once per week. Whereas, for dry or damaged hair, you should wash every 5 to 7 days.
For people with thick hair, wash once per week because your hair can hold onto a lot of moisture .

30th Jun 2020All CategoriesYour hair is your crown is a phrase that most of us have probably heard before. Taking good care of your hair is an essential part that as both a woman and a man will need to tackle in our lives. We may have heard or have been given a lot of advice from a lot of people on how to care of our hair, so we may have tried a lot of things that may have had a negative effect on our hair. But, worry not! Read on to see our tips on how to take good care of your hair.
1. Overwashing your hair can be bad
You can damage your hair if you overwash it! You may be in more trouble if your hair is coloured, bleached or is naturally dry. Avoid washing your hair everyday so that your natural oils and proteins can be maintained to keep both your scalp and hair healthy.
2. Eat Vitamin C Foods
To improve the health of your scalp, you can eat vitamin c foods like guavas, lemons, broccoli, and oranges. These foods can help with the absorbing of iron which helps with hair growth.
3. Use Protection
Protect your hair all the time! Your hair can suffer from damage from excessively using heated tools like straighteners, tongs and hairdryers. Be careful not to use too much heat on your hair, rather opt for different methods to dry such as using your towel.
4. Condition your Hair the Right Way
Knowing which conditioner to use is important because we all have different hair types. You do not need to condition your hair after every wash but every once in a while. Take a generous amount of conditioner and apply it on your hair and leave in for a while. Conditioning your hair adds moisture and strength back to your hair.
There is a lot of trial and error when it comes to your hair. Knowing what and what not to do can make or break your hair. Have fun with trying to see what works for your hair!
